3.National Science Center

The National Science Center, Delhi is a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India. It is a pioneering institute engaged in the populations of science among the people of the northern part of India in general and among the students in particular. It was inaugurated on the 9th of January 1992 by the then Prime Minister of India . Since opening, the Center has rendered yeoman service to the cause of science populations.

4.Bal Bhavan National Children’s Museum and Aquarium

The National Children’s Museum every year in the months of May/June observes Museum Week in commemoration of “World Museum Day” in order to create awareness among children regarding importance of museums in their lives, types of Museums & their uses. This organizing programmes like “Let’s Explore the Uses of Museums”. The National Children’s Museum believes that any “Museum” remains a store house until it is used to dispense information to its visitors through its collection. During this week long programme children are exposed to different types of Museums through slide shows and an opportunity to interact with provided experts when they visit various museums. Children also explore themselves that through these different kinds of Museums they can learn various aspects related to our cultural heritage and glorious past alongwith traditional art & crafts etc. They also learn how these museums can supplement or complement their school curriculum and help them in understanding various topics related to their day today life.

6.National Zoological Park

The Indian Board for Wildlife felt in the year 1952 to have a zoo in the national capital of the country to provide recreation to people at large. Accordingly, an ad-hoc committee of some prominent nature lovers of Delhi, including Smt. Indira Gandhi, was constituted under the Chairmanship of Chief Commissioner to formulate a proposal for establishment of Zoological Park for Delhi. Mr M.E.F.Bowring Welsh, of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, was appointed as its Secretary. The committee met on 9th September, 1953 and approved the site between Purana Quila and Humayun’s Tomb for the purpose. It was also decided that the Central Government will develop the park and hand it over in running condition to the Delhi Government since wildlife was managed by Forest Department of the Delhi Government. An official from Indian Forest Service Mr. N.D.Bachkheti was assigned the duty on 1st October 1955 to setup this Zoo.

7.National Rail Museum

This unique museum has a fascinating and exotic collection of over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railways. Static and working models, signaling equipment’s, antique furniture’s, historical photographs and related literature etc. are displayed in the museum. The line-up of old coaches includes the handsome Prince of Wales Saloon, built in 1875. Not to be outdone is the Maharaja of Mysore’s Saloon built in 1899 with its brocade covered chairs and an elegant rosewood bed; one can peer in through the windows for a good look. National Rail Museum

8.Children’s Park (India Gate)

Located adjacent to India Gate, this is a park designed especially for children & has been a wholesome family entertainment destination for almost four decades. The park host number of swings and is a special attraction amongst children.
